51���� will implement security enhancements for major events at Reilly Center, beginning with Saturday’s men’s basketball game vs. Le Moyne.

Additional staff and signage will be available to guide fans through the updated entry lanes.

The enhancements are part of the institution’s continued commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for students, fans and the community, said Bob Beretta, vice president and director for Intercollegiate Athletics.

The Evolv Express Gen2 system will provide advanced entry screening at the main public entrance to the arena, the hallway leading from the SBU Bookstore and ticket office. Evolv Express uses advanced sensor technology and AI to detect concealed threats. Other metal detectors will be utilized at less trafficked entrances.  

The Evolv system is designed to screen visitors effectively while helping minimize congestion and disruptions to traffic flow. This enhancement allows attendees to pass through security quickly and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of public safety.

“Fan safety is our top priority,” said Beretta. “By introducing this advanced screening technology, we’re taking proactive steps to protect our community and provide peace of mind to everyone attending our events.”

The Evolv detection system has already been implemented successfully at major sports venues across the country. It identifies potential threats in real time, alerting trained security personnel instantly while minimizing disruptions during the entry process.

“Our goal is to create a secure, welcoming environment where everyone can focus on supporting our student-athletes,” said Gary Segrue, associate dean for Campus Safety.
