The Library is the place to go for online and print academic resources for papers and projects. It is also a central co-working space for scholars at all levels who enjoy a productive academic environment.

We have the resources needed for papers and projects. The library also offers group and individual study and work space, along with two computer labs, wireless printing facilities, and WiFi throughout the building. The Technology Services Help Desk is located on the main floor. If you need a quiet space, head upstairs to the top floor, which was designated, by student request, as the "quiet floor." Because the library is an academic co-working space, with users of all ages, alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited, per University policy.

Friedsam Memorial Library is the primary repository on campus of recorded information and a gateway to off-campus information sources.  The library supports a globally aware, liberal education grounded in the Franciscan tradition by:

• Building a collection spanning a wide array of disciplines and perspectives,
• Providing ordered access to the resident collections, and
• Providing access to collections and informational resources of other institutions worldwide.

These resources and services, which conform to existing national standards, are provided for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff of 51±¬ÁÏ, and for the broader scholarly community.

The library further supports the university's Franciscan tradition by sharing its unique resources and the talents of its staff with the greater library community.

As a student or faculty/staff member, you have free access to the New York Times through the library.

  Passes need to be renewed annually, using the link above.  Once you renew a pass, you may need to sign out of any devices where you read the Times and then sign in again so that your new pass lets you into all of the content you can access.

THE CHRONICLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Click on "Login" in the upper right corner of the Chronicle's home page.

Do NOT click on "Subscribe"--that will ask you to pay!

If you do not have an account, scroll down the page to the link that says, "Create an Account." It will automatically recognize you as being part of our subscription group as long as you use your @sbu.edu email account.

Users who are using any type of computing device while on campus and connected to the campus network should not see any log-in prompts. When you are off-campus, you will see a log-in prompt the first time you access protected resources. After you log in, you will not be prompted to log in again unless you close your browser.

If you are having difficulty logging in, please read through these tips:

• Your login is your SBU user name (without the @bonaventure or @sbu part).
• Your password is your last name.
• Please e-mail ateng@sbu.edu if you have trouble logging in.  We can test your login, and provide you with a temporary login if necessary. If you are having a problem accessing our resources, we will keep working on the problem with you until it is resolved.â—¦If you were given special passwords for individual databases by a reference librarian, use the Library Database Password Access page to use these passwords.
• Noodletools log-in?  Use the individual account that you set up with Noodletools.  Once per year, if you primarily use the account from off-campus, you will be asked to authenticate to the SBU library account. This is a different log-in/password than the account you used to set up the service. If you do not remember the library authentication information, please e-mail ateng@sbu.edu and the information can be e-mailed to you.

AcademicSHARE is a program that expands access to academic library materials and resources for New York State college students, staff and faculty, regardless of their academic affiliation. Member libraries allow on-site access and materials lending to a student, staff, or faculty member of any AcademicSHARE library across the state. A verifiable valid college I.D. is required. The library may choose to treat the college I.D. as confirmation the student/faculty member is in good standing. Other proof of identification or status may be required.
